Myself, and some of my girlfriends you know we got the bruises and we used that we gave them a name we call them UD eyes and identify drinking incident. We must have banged ourselves somehow and you know you’d wake up music. Oh, I don’t remember doing because of course you didn’t feel a thing probably. And I would also say if you’re in therapy for your anxiety and those Wake-Up Calls, then and you do drink, then try Alcohol Use Disorder a couple of months without alcohol and you might find that your anxiety decreases dramatically. Yeah, the choosing wine you don’t like cuz I was a white wine girl. I’m gonna switch to red wine, first of all, because I don’t like it much.
Try replacing your usual cocktail or beer with a nonalcoholic option, including many of the now popular mocktails available so you can still enjoy social time with friends without having alcohol in the mix. So, depending on how much you typically drink on a daily basis, cutting that out might simply mean you’re taking in fewer calories. It can also be helpful to focus on activities that don’t usually involve alcohol. Encourage your friends to meet up in the morning for breakfast, for example, or suggest healthy activities where alcohol is less likely to be present.
Except what we find is that for many people, the exact opposite happens. We don’t take action, we put on blinders. It’s like it becomes too scary to look at. So it’s really thinking about, like, understanding kind of like that, that layer below which I think a lot of times we don’t spend any time there. Because we’re so focused on like, Oh, God, like I feel awful last night was awful. And why can I learn my lesson and, you know, we’re not focused on these kind of like underlying issues that are going on that actually really are fueling the habit. And I’ll just say this for everyone listening, because, you know, when I talk about my experience, sometimes people will be like, oh, well, that’s not, that’s not true for me at all.
These statistics remind you that you’re often one bad decision away from completely ruining your life. There are withdrawal symptoms, environmental temptations, and outright stress. If you put down the bottle for 30 days, but you slip up and have a drink on day 31, this doesn’t undo the 30 days before. You learned something, made progress, and put yourself in a better position for success. Depending on the extent of liver damage you have, you may need to completely abstain from alcohol in order to give your liver the best chance for recovery.
